The Darkest Hour Is Just Before the Dawn

It was Winter Solstice yesterday; the shortest day and the longest night. To be honest, it was hard to comprehend…

Standing on the jetty gazing out over Gibraltar, North Africa and the Atlas Mountains, the stars seemed brighter than ever as the slight westerly breeze brought warmth across the Mediterranean.

The bleak mid-winter it was not.

It’s nearly 10 weeks since we arrived here in Southern Spain and we are still as grateful as we were on the day we arrived.

During that time though, along with the incredible experiences, I’ve also had my challenges in adapting to being self employed and getting my online business up and running.

What I’m coming to realise now is that things just don’t happen overnight. It takes time to build trust with a new audience.

I also have a lot to learn about Facebook’s Algorithms (I think that’s what they’re called), and why, when I create a post, it’s not shown to all and sundry on the platform.

There have been times when I’ve been completely frustrated and thought that it just doesn’t work.

But then Andy grounds me with one of his sayings:

“The darkest hour is just before the dawn”

He explains that it takes time and resilience to be in this game. And some of that time is going to be tough. But just when you’re ready to give up hope, the breakthrough happens and you see the light.

And it feels amazing! Because things are starting to change, I can feel it coming together now.

Which takes me back to what we spoke about during our walk last night…

As fortunate and grateful as we feel in our new life here, we know how many of you are having such a hard time right now.

So this Blog is about sending you some light, because as dark as it feels right now, we’ll all get through this.

It may not be next month or the one after, but it will happen, the light will come.

And when it does, promise me one thing? That you’ll chase down that dream of yours like never before.

Whatever it is, wherever it will take you, make it happen!

Merry Christmas one and all, and remember “The darkest hour is just before the dawn”

Love and light,

Jules 😘
